The Lion King is one of those theatre experiences that feels much bigger than simply watching a musical.

From the moment the animals begin making their way through the theatre, the production is filled with colour, movement, music and larger-than-life puppetry.

For kids who already love Disney’s The Lion King, seeing Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki and the rest of the pride brought to life on stage makes it an extra-special experience.

It’s also a great introduction to musical theatre for older children and teens, while parents who grew up with the original Disney movie will find plenty of nostalgia too.

The Lion King’s Australian Tour

The Melbourne season forms part of The Lion King’s third Australian tour.

The production is currently completing its Sydney season before heading to Brisbane in November 2026, followed by Melbourne in March 2027.

The Australian tour has already proven hugely popular, becoming the fastest-selling production in the history of Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
