Melbourne’s iconic giant observation wheel is spinning again!
The Melbourne Star officially reopens from 10am on Thursday 15 October 2026, welcoming visitors back on board for spectacular views across Melbourne, the bay and beyond.

Located at The District Docklands, the Melbourne Star takes you 120 metres above the city during a 30-minute rotation inside fully enclosed, climate-controlled cabins.

Ride during the day for sweeping views across Melbourne or visit after dark to see the city skyline light up.
We have so many special memories of the Melbourne Star from over the years. Before the Melbourne Star closed, we were lucky enough to experience it in so many different ways with the kids, and some of those visits are still such special memories for us.

Over the years we joined in everything from magical Storytelling Flights with the fairies from The Lost Forests and Children’s Week celebrations with Melbie Bear, to the Teddy Bear Picnic, the colourful Choc-o-licious cabin and the fun Summer Beach Boxes experience complete with themed props, nibbles and incredible views over Melbourne.

What we always loved was that it was never just about going around the wheel. Each visit felt completely different depending on the event, and the kids genuinely looked forward to seeing what had been created inside the cabins.

Looking back at these photos now is a little surreal – they were so young, and so many family memories were made high above Docklands.

That’s why we’re genuinely so excited to see the Melbourne Star reopening after all these years. It feels like welcoming back a little piece of Melbourne that we thought was gone for good, and we can’t wait to step back inside, see those views again and start making a whole new collection of memories – this time with the kids a whole lot older. 🎡❤️
