Some Melbourne spots never get old, and Easey’s in Collingwood is definitely one of them. We’ve been coming here with the kids for around 10 years, and it’s still one of the most unique places to grab a burger in Melbourne.
The first thing you notice is pretty hard to miss – old Melbourne train carriages sitting five storeys up on the roof! You can actually head up and dine inside the train while looking out across the Melbourne skyline.
A Very Melbourne Dining Experience
Easey’s opened in 2015 and was created as a celebration of Melbourne’s food, art, music, transport and street culture. The rooftop Hitachi train carriage still features elements of its original interior, which makes the whole experience feel even more nostalgic.
Our kids have always loved the novelty of heading up through the building and suddenly finding themselves sitting inside an actual train on a rooftop. Even after all these years, it’s still pretty cool!
Burgers, Chips & Comfort Food
The menu is all about burgers and comfort food, with American-inspired burgers alongside some classic Aussie favourites including potato cakes and dim sims.
For us, though, Easey’s has always been as much about the experience as the food. Sitting inside an old Melbourne train, surrounded by graffiti and looking across the city is something you simply don’t get at your average burger joint.
Great With Kids
We’ve visited Easey’s multiple times over the years and it’s always been a fun one to take the kids to, particularly if they love trains.
There’s also dining downstairs, but if it’s your first visit, book a table in the rooftop train. Train tables are limited and Easey’s recommends booking ahead because they can get very busy.
Why We Keep Going Back
Melbourne has changed a lot over the past decade, but Easey’s is still one of those places we happily recommend to families looking for somewhere a little different.
Burgers + trains + rooftop views = a pretty memorable Melbourne feed.
After visiting for around 10 years, the kids might be getting bigger, but seeing those trains sitting on top of the building still gets us every time.
