If you’re looking for a FREE, creative and air-conditioned activity for the school holidays, Let’s Party! Fashion for Kids at the NGV is an absolute winner for families.

Set inside the Children’s Gallery at NGV International, this vibrant exhibition invites kids to explore fashion, creativity and self-expression in the most fun and playful way possible.

It’s colourful, interactive and designed entirely with children in mind – perfect for curious little minds and energetic bodies.

Fashion Statements

Kids can discover over 30 imaginative garments and accessories from the NGV’s Fashion & Textiles Collection.

Each piece shares the story behind the designer, encouraging children to look closely, ask questions and think creatively about style, design and identity.

Celebrate creativity

There are hands-on making activities where kids can decorate their own party hat and draw their dream celebration cake, stacked high with candles, sprinkles and colour. These activities are not only fun but also help develop fine motor skills, confidence and imagination.

Let’s Dance

At the heart of the exhibition is a high-energy dancefloor — complete with disco balls, colourful lights and a nonstop playlist. From Beyoncé and Lady Gaga to 70s rock and techno beats, kids (and parents) are invited to let loose and dance like nobody’s watching.

Dress to Impress

This is always a crowd favourite. Children can dress up as sparkly stars, glowing hearts or lightning bolts, then step in front of a spectacular backdrop to create their own personalised video portrait – a fun souvenir to take home from the day.

Designed by Danielle Brustman

The exhibition space itself is a standout. Designed by Melbourne-based interior designer Danielle Brustman, the bold colours, geometric shapes and playful layout turn the gallery into a party in its own right.

Her work has featured in major NGV exhibitions including Melbourne Now and NGV Triennial, and it really shows.
