La Nuvola: Melbourne’s New Italian Dessert Haven

Melbourne has just welcomed a dreamy new dessert café, and if you’re a sweet tooth, this one’s for you. La Nuvola, meaning “the cloud” in Italian, has opened at Melbourne Central – bringing a little slice of Rome right into the heart of the city.

Step inside and you’ll find tradition meeting indulgence. Think soft brioche buns filled with clouds of whipped cream (known as maritozzi), decadent Italian chocolate crafted by Majani (Italy’s oldest chocolatier, dating back to 1796), and crepes made fresh from a secret Pugliese recipe served straight out of a retro Fiat 500.

We couldn’t go past their signature maritozzi – soft, pillowy buns filled with cream and topped with:

🍓 Fresh strawberries

🌰 Pistachio cream

The combination was pure heaven — light, fluffy, and rich without being too sweet.

Alongside that, La Nuvola also serves:

✨ Handcrafted crepes

🍨 Artisan gelato and tiramisu

🍫 Creamy Gianduia chocolate from Majani

It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, sip an espresso, and savour each bite like you’re in Italy.

📍 Level 1, Melbourne Central (Shop L02/233A La Trobe St, Melbourne)

📆 Open Monday–Wednesday 9am–7pm, Thursday–Friday 9am–9pm, Saturday–Sunday 10am–7pm

Whether you’re after a quick coffee and treat, or a full dessert experience, La Nuvola is one to add to your must-visit list.
