A Date Night to Remember at Akaiito

For our recent date night, we decided to try something special, and Akaiito did not disappoint. As we arrived, we were welcomed into a cosy, intimate setting with limited seating, creating the perfect private atmosphere.

Our evening began with a warm welcome, where we were seated in the cozy waiting area, styled like a living room. We were then offered a selection of fine wines and craft cocktails to accompany our meal.

The chefs greeted us with a selection of delectable canapés, promising an extraordinary culinary adventure. Embracing the spirit of ‘Omakase’ – trusting the chef – we surrendered to their expertise.

Akaiito’s ‘Omakase at Your Table’ experience is a unique Japanese culinary journey guided by skilled Robatayaki and Sushi Chefs. From the moment we stepped inside, the aroma of freshly prepared dishes heightened our anticipation. The central chef’s kitchen allowed us to see and smell every part of our dining experience.

The 7-course degustation menu showcased the season’s finest ingredients, expertly prepared with precision and artistry. Each dish blended traditional Japanese techniques with modern twists, felt like a performance, unfolding right before our eyes, making the experience truly unforgettable.

Our highlight dishes included the Smoked Spanish Mackerel with wasabi kizami, daikon, and truffle ponzu, the Western Australian Marron paired with an heirloom tomato salad and dashi vinaigrette, and the 14-day Dry Aged Duck served with beetroot, dry mushroom, lardo, and duck jus. The meal concluded with a refreshing Guava Sorbet, accompanied by fermented strawberry, Peckham pear, hibiscus, and raspberry meringue.

The intimate setting, exceptional service, and interactive experience of watching the chefs at work made our date night truly unforgettable. If you’re looking for a unique and private dining experience with excellent food and a cosy atmosphere, Akaiito is a must-visit.

We highly recommend this hidden gem. Trust the chefs, sit back, and enjoy the journey through the best of modern Japanese cuisine in Melbourne.
