Explore the Art of Silver Crafting in Celuk

Celuk, a charming village renowned for its gold and silver craftsmanship, beckons to travelers seeking an authentic Balinese art experience. Nestled just 10 kilometers northeast of Denpasar, this village is a must-visit stopover, especially if you’re heading to Ubud’s Monkey Forest.

In Celuk, nearly every local resident is either a skilled silver craftsman or involved in the trade of exquisite Balinese silver jewelry. During our visit, which was part of a tour to Ubud’s Monkey Forest, we were welcomed to witness the intricate art of crafting rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches, and various other jewelry pieces.

Strolling along the village’s roads, you’ll encounter rows of silver and gold shops showcasing their creations. Visitors have the unique opportunity to observe artisans at work, crafting beautiful jewelry. The finished products are proudly displayed, inviting you to explore the remarkable designs up close. Should you wish for a closer look or have questions about a particular item, friendly gallery owners and shopkeepers are eager to provide insights into the production process and share captivating stories behind each piece.
While many items come with price tags, don’t hesitate to engage in the Balinese tradition of bargaining for a better deal. Our guide suggested starting at half the price listed on the tag and gradually working your way up, ensuring a rewarding shopping experience in Celuk.
